    Kanga
    "Kanga"

    Label: Negative Gain (2017)

LA based producer/programmer/vocalist, KANGA, vigorously pulls her listeners into the dark, twisted sonic landscape that is her debut album, self-titled KANGA. Her assaulting instrumentals are balanced by her cool and collected vocal melodies, which paint melodic structures and procure catchy hooks with almost surgically cold precision. KANGA uses her vocal intimacy and sweeping instruments to humanize a style of music that traditionally intends to be as mechanical as possible. KANGA was written and produced by the artist herself with mixing and additional production by Rhys Fulber (Conjure One/Delerium/Front Line Assembly) and features Matthew Setzer (Skinny Puppy/London After Midnight) on guitars. The album marks a collision between two worlds, where the cold, clinical world of industrial music becomes invaded by the hyper-surrealism of pop. Challenging the notion of purity, both in the music scene and in her musical subjects, KANGA pushes through the glass ceiling of genre expectations and asks, "where's the anger in pop music?".
