Blac Kolor – Weltenbrand

Label: ant zen (2023)
‘Weltenbrand’ is not a hopeful album. It begins with a glimmer of light, but ends in utter darkness. Unlike anything before, BLAC KOLOR seamlessly transitions from being accessible and catchy in one track of the album to becoming as avant-garde and unapproachable as ever in the next moment.

Description

‘Weltenbrand’ is not a hopeful album. It begins with a glimmer of light, but ends in utter darkness. Unlike anything before, BLAC KOLOR seamlessly transitions from being accessible and catchy in one track of the album to becoming as avant-garde and unapproachable as ever in the next moment. The CD is a 6 panel digipack. Packaging concept & additional graphics by Stefan Alt (SALT)
‘Weltenbrand’ takes listeners on a bass-heavy, pulsating journey through classic dark techno, in fused with post-industrial noise and ebm-inspired sequences. Contradicting the expected evo-lution of BLAC KOLOR’s sound, the album ushers in new dimensions of style and expression and marks a distinct chapter in the artist’s career. A wall of new synthesizers and effect generators, along with collaborations with other musicians, serve as the catalyst for a fresh creative flow, enriched by external influences and perspectives. contrast becomes a source of enrichment.
The album unites four incredibly intriguing vocal artists, each with their own unique flair. the highly creative PANTERNOISE from Berlin masterfully conveys the ‘greed for more’ in the track ‘relikt,’ while emerging synth-wave artist JENNIFER TOUCH seamlessly infuses pop appeal into the technoid-driven anthem ‘metanoia’ with her captivating and charming voice. The distinctive vocals of XTR HUMAN conjure the planet’s downfall with a perfect post-punk attitude. Last but not least, stage actor and musician DONIS (love is colder than death, think about mutation) transforms the dystopia of the 1976 science-fiction movie ‘logan’s run’ into a metaphorical model, describing the transient nature of our lives in ‘sandmann.’
The result is a musical theatrical performance condensed into 3 and a half minutes song – BLACKOLOR has never been this experimental and avant-garde. Black is not a color. Black is the mixture of all the colors – or the absence of light. The control about the effects is entirely in the hand of one. The fight about their predominance is a battle in a different cosmos. BLAC KOLOR is the Leipzig-based producer and DJ Hendrick Grothe: dedicated to dark, obsessive rhythmic electronic music.7
