Description

Description

Curve was an English alternative rock and electronic music duo from London, formed in 1990 and disbanded in 2005. The band consisted of Toni Halliday (vocals, occasional guitar) and Dean Garcia (bass, guitar, drums, programming). Halliday wrote the lyrics to their songs and both contributed to the songwriting. Producer Alan Moulder was a key collaborator, helping to shape the mix of heavy beats and densely layered guitar tracks in contrast to Halliday’s vocals.
Following the success of Curve’s debut album “Doppelgänger”, which almost reached the Top 10 in the UK, the British group took a darker, moodier direction with the follow-up “Cuckoo”, released in 1993. Opener “Missing Link” is angry and aggressive and closer to Ministry-style industrial than the group’s previous works, but other songs are slower, more atmospheric and a little more experimental. “Superblaster” is a little closer to the poppy highlights of “Doppelgänger” and was released as a single.
“Cuckoo” is still one of the band’s best works. Halliday has even stated that she thinks it’s Curve’s best album. It is available in a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on pink and purple marbled vinyl and includes an insert.
