Description

Memoria is the second album from Swiss cold-wave project Future Faces. In a synthetic, restless musical universe, it questions temporality and the consequences of a past action on the present and future. With a more nuanced instrumentation than the two (Album and EP) previous releases, Memoria invites the listener on a contrasting introspective journey, moving from desolate minimalist climates to epic build-ups. In order to move on from a conceptual world and engage the audience, the album has been written in the same way
as when the quartet builds a concert set-list; respecting the breaks, climaxes and outlets of a scenic musical narrative.
The album is composed of 10 unique tracks, including two momentous collaborations; one with the Swiss artist Delia Meshlir, who gracefully brings a feminine dimension, representing an interpretative possibility that Future Faces’ lyrical universe shares in this new album. The other with Belgrado / Fatamorgana’s Patrycja Proniewska a strong personality with whom the group maintains fundamental relationships of aesthetics and unfaltering friendship.
In this record, vocals take center stage and guide the listener in occasionally lifting their head from the overly immersive experience, through the lyrical world of Alex Müller (also from H E X, Sunfast). With his voice, he creates an intimate and benevolent path, ensuring the listener does not get lost in the coldness of the synthesisers and the pounding of the percussions. It is a glimmer in the dark and abyssal world of Memoria.
Although predominantly synthetic, the guitar, bass and percussions energize and bring us back to the concrete in which Future Faces has developed its roots. If the EP ‘Revolt’ was raw and insurgent, the album ‘Euphoria’ hypnotic and abstract, ‘Memoria’ is significantly more profound and generous.
