‘Realm of the Black Sun’ is the first new studio album in over 10 years from Ikon (since “ Everyone, Everything, Everywhere Ends” in 2014)!
The album contains 13 new songs recorded in 2023/2024 in Australia, Belgium, Egypt, Germany and the United States. As the band travelled around the world in 2022/2023, they had the opportunity to record in different studios for the first time and meet new producers and engineers. Chris even had the honour of recording a track in the King’s Chamber in Cairo, Egypt in early 2023 before sunrise with no one else present. The project was completed this year in Melbourne, Australia. Line-Up: Chris McCarter-guitar, vocals, keyboards / Dino Molinaro-bass / Neil Mckay-guitar on track 2 / Hillary Johnson-keyboards on track 4. Ikon is one of the oldest members of the Gothic / New Wave scene ; Inspired by bands like Joy Division and New Order IKON started in 1993 and are still active today. Their own mixture of Gothic Rock, Post Punk, Dark Wave and NeoFolk is as versatile as it is consistent and band head Chris McCarter has always remained true to himself and his fans.
