Label: Trisol Records (2009 / 2025)
“Flowers from Exile”, originally released in 2009, undoubtedly holds a very special place in Rome’s expansive back-catalogue as one of the band’s most important and beloved albums to date. Description
“Flowers from Exile”, originally released in 2009, undoubtedly holds a very special place in Rome’s expansive back-catalogue as one of the band’s most important and beloved albums to date. So when original co-producer and recording engineer Patrick Damiani, who also contributed to the production as a musician and arranger, approached Jerome Reuter about digging up the original recording sessions and revisit the tracks with fresh and seasoned ears, the temptation was irresistible.
Many years after the original sessions, both were astonished at the depth and sonic scope of the recorded material and realised that with a fresh approach and updated mixing techniques, this magical moment of the band’s early years could be enhanced into something truly spell-binding. Thus was born “Flowers from Exile – Revisited” as a labour of love characterised by a deep and unwavering respect to the original musical and conceptual masterpiece. On this edition that carefully preserves the genuine feeling of this album dedicated to the fighters in the Spanish Civil War and its aftermath, many sonic facets that lay hidden have been re-ignited to form a mesmerizing sonic journey back in time, firmly devoted to the spirit of the original endeavour that captures parts of the history of Reuter’s immediate family.
“Flowers from Exile – Revisited” is a meticulously crafted travel through the decades and over ideological divides, that reimagines this timeless major work while carefully keeping the authentic and unique experience intact.
