Description
Crash and Automation demonstrate Muller’s (Boy Harsher) mastery of austere, industrial soundscapes. However, Muller goes one step further by introducing club elements such as nu-disco tendencies and vocal samples. The Vinyl version is a crystal clear vinyl.
In this way, he picks up on the theme of body and machine, which is also addressed in the visual content of the films. Crash pays homage to David Cronenberg’s 1996 film of the same name, with both Ashley and Cronenberg exploring the eroticism of car crashes, a fetish that seems both mechanical and gory. This violent juxtaposition is Muller’s real inspiration.
“Body and Machine” from Crash is a pulsating synth anthem that contains both synthetic echoes and playful highlights. “Perverse Technology” is a groovy and discordant number, while “Sharing a Smoke” has a gritty austerity, you can almost see hands sliding across leather seats, broken glass hitting sweaty bodies, and open-mouthed kisses in the spotlight.
