The debut album from Das Ich is a rare piece of New German Death Art featuring the scene hits Kain Und Abel and the high-flyer Gottes Tod, was dropped in 2004 and has only been available via various collectors’ markets since then. Even today, Das Ich still knows how to skillfully combine electronic, symphonic and early industrial elements into an explosive cocktail that is unparalleled in the otherwise often cliché-stifled German-language music culture.
Das Ich quickly established themselves as a permanent fixture and became the epitome of experimental and innovative electronic music. Celebrated as the initial spark of a new genre in the post-wave, Kraftwerk and Neubauten era, they successfully topped the charts of the independent scene. Europe-wide tours consolidate Das Ich’s position and they soon gain a reputation as apocalyptic eccentrics, as their concerts are a vicious, bone-shaking spectacle.
