CHIRON, the Australian darkwave/post-punk act returns after long silence with an all new studio album, and it’s… “A Dark Beauty”! The band was founded by Michael Aliani, former lead vocalist of IKON. His bandmates are Dino Molinaro (IKON, bass/cello) and Ivan Bullock (electric guitar). Their music was shaped by the legacy of Joy Division and early New Order. In 1997, Michael left IKON to establish CHIRON.
The current band’s members bring together nearly a century of experience in dark and electronic music. Their individual projects have taken them around the world—from Germany to Tokyo, Brazil, and beyond. But this album was created in their home city of Melbourne.
This album marks a bold evolution in CHIRON’s sound. While known for blending darkwave, post-punk, and electronic music, it now ventures into modern and progressive territories as well. The result is a rich tapestry of thick, brooding atmospheres, driving basslines, cinematic textures, downtuned guitars, pulsing rhythms, and haunting, intimate vocals. The album feels both expansive and deeply personal. “This album is about finding beauty in the darker currents of human experience,” the band explains. “There’s a strange luminosity that can emerge from grief, longing, and uncertainty. We wanted to capture that contrast — something stark but radiant.”Fans of darkwave, post-punk, and alternative rock will find familiar elements—but with a fresh, modern approach. Special guest appereances by KRIISTAL ANN of Paradox Obscur (on „Flesh and Blood“) and YVETTE WINKLER of Dutch Darkwave act Vaselyne (on „Oblivion“) and special remixes of 3 album tracks plus a remix of the title-track from 2002’s album ‘Slipping Away’!
