Description
After the dark Goth album „Elegia del Olvido/Elegia del Horror“ from 2021, the Chilean duo DIAVOL STRAIN is now finally releasing their follow-up Mini-Album. The album title alone promises another work from the deepest depths of hell and the music keeps its promise from the very first note.
Little has changed in terms of DIAVOL STRAIN´s basic orientation…they offer flawless Goth/Deathrock with a few Darkwave touches, still without those Metal- or Electro-influences that are so modern these days. A few Industrial touches have been added, creating a kind of „machine hall“-sound in the background and thus creating an even darker and more voluminous atmosphere. What remains, however, are of course the shrieking Deathrock-guitars, which are rarely heard these days, plus sometimes driving, sometimes dragging drum computer rhythms, hammering bass and the suffering vocals, which together create cosy old-school Goth-shivers. At first, this may not seem quite contemporary, but it also shows that this style is not being forgotten and continues to inspire young musicians.
The somewhat straighter and almost catchy song „En La Eternidad“, which is more in the Postpunk-vein, stands out slightly among the darker gems such as “Sacrificio” or „Venus 17“. A kind of interlude is the noisy song which will presumably also serve as a concert intro.
With this new release, DIAVOL STRAIN are sure to win many new friends, especially fans of the early Madre Del Vizio or the unfortunately almost forgotten Italians Dead Relatives.
