Description
The Norwegian duo Bel Canto is back with their first new album in 22 years, the band consists of Anneli Drecker and Nils Johansen, returns with a new album “Radiant Green”. Opening a new chapter in the history of one of the true pioneers of the electronic music genre, the new album is bursting with creative and musical richness. It sounds fresh and new while drawing on the unmistakable soundscape of the band’s remarkable musical treasure trove, which includes mega-hits such as “Shimmering, Warm & Bright” and the Spellemannprize-winning “Magic Box”, to name but a few.
“Radiant Green” was mixed by Matias Tellez and Gilles Martin. For Martin, it is his comeback after producing the band’s first three albums, most recently 1992’s “Shimmering, Warm & Bright”. Martin’s production helped establish Bel Canto’s distinctive sound in the early days.
Bel Canto’s musical influences are broad and range from Cocteau Twins, OMD, David Bowie, 4AD, Clannad, Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, David Sylvian, Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) to Depeche Mode and Blue Nile. Anneli Drecker occasionally paused her involvement with Bel Canto to concentrate on solo projects and collaborations with other artists and bands, including Röyksopp and a-ha. Nils Johansen, on the other hand, composed music for film and television and continued his involvement with his other band Vajas.
